10-second answer
The short answer
Shopping in Korean layers on top of phrases you likely already know — 얼마예요 (eolmayeyo, how much), 주세요 (juseyo, please give me) — plus a small set of size, fitting-room, and discount phrases specific to clothing and market shopping.
Quick check — did that land?
1. How do you ask to try something on?
Want to try this on? What do you say?

Trying on clothes, then asking for a different size. Try "Practice as You" and answer each line before checking.
이거 입어 봐도 돼요?
igeo ibeo bwado dwaeyo?
Can I try this on?
네, 피팅룸은 저쪽이에요.
ne, pitingrumeun jeojjogieyo.
Sure, the fitting room is over there.
감사합니다.
gamsahamnida.
Thank you.
이거 좀 작아요.
igeo jom jagayo.
This is a bit small.
큰 사이즈 가져다드릴게요.

I'll bring you a bigger size.

Sizes and Trying Things On
이거 입어 봐도 돼요?
igeo ibeo bwado dwaeyo?
Can I try this on?
더 큰 사이즈 있어요?
deo keun saijeu isseoyo?
Do you have a bigger size?
피팅룸이 어디예요?
pitingrumi eodiyeyo?
Where is the fitting room?
Clothing stores call it 피팅룸 (pitingrum), straight from English "fitting room." 탈의실 (taruisil) is a dictionary word too, but it sounds like a room for undressing — the one at a public bath, swimming pool or gym — so it's not what you'd say in a shop.
다른 색상 있어요?
dareun saeksang isseoyo?
Do you have it in another color?
색깔 (saekkkal) works too, but in shops 색상 (saeksang, "color, shade") is the more common word.
Myeongdong is where many visitors use these first — see our Myeongdong guide for sizes, testers and tax refunds.
Prices and Discounts
이거 세일해요?
igeo seilhaeyo?
Is this on sale?
좀 깎아 주세요.
jom kkakka juseyo.
Could you give me a discount?
Only at markets. Almost every store in Korea has fixed, marked prices, so people don't say this in ordinary shops at all; at a traditional market, especially with an older vendor, it can work.
이거 얼마예요?
igeo eolmayeyo?
How much is this?
Covered in full on its own page.
To try these at a traditional market, take our walk from City Hall to Namdaemun Market.
Deciding and Paying
이걸로 할게요.
igeollo halgeyo.
I'll take this one.
그냥 구경하는 거예요.
geunyang gugyeonghaneun geoyeyo.
I'm just browsing.
A polite way to decline attentive staff help.
포장해 주세요.
pojanghae juseyo.
Please gift-wrap it.
The -ㄹ 거예요 ending in these phrases is explained on Korean future tense.
Common Mistakes
Mistake #1 — Expecting discounts everywhere
좀 깎아 주세요 is only for traditional markets. Almost every store has fixed, marked prices, so asking for a discount in an ordinary shop or a chain store sounds out of place.
Mistake #2 — Not knowing how to browse without pressure
그냥 구경하는 거예요 is a polite, normal way to signal you don't need help yet — Korean retail staff are often quite attentive, and this phrase smooths that interaction.
